Hi Everyone! Finally I managed to upload my video on YouTube, I had copyright problems, so finally I could get the pitch low enough for the 3rd re-render.
So this is my entry, I changed the very beginning of the video, because I hated it, also added credits in the end. I hope you will like it, I worked pretty hard on it. Also, I was pretty disappointed about the romance music pack, it was hard to choose song.
Gotta say thank you for my team (HunTeam) I am really poud to work with you Fullmoon and Kvakond, both of your videos were exceptional, thank you!

Hmmm ismerős helyzet...Az AMV-d szép lett, engem néhol zavartak a szövegek, bár ha meg nem lett volna akkor meg nem lett volna benne valami extra, szóval kellett is volna meg nem is.Mindenesetre 3 nap alatt szépet alkottál.

After all the drama, i wanted to watch the amv that i should have before.

And yeah it's not really my type of amv because i'm not too much a romance fan but i gotta admit that the editing is clean and the end has the right pace even if i dont like to much the letters incrustation it's sure has a purpos.

I believe as well you should have been placed like a lot higher, but it's a contest we can't all agree on the same results that's the game.

I think you lost a lot of rank cuz of your typos, but the editing is good and clean so yeah you could have been ranked higher, at least top 15 or something. Good job !

If it was a really bad and noticable typo then I could understand, but if the typo doesn't hinder the viewing then you shouldn't be so picky about it. Atleast it didn't hinder my viewing, unless your talking about the japanese characters?
Anyway.. just point it out to the editor to remember for next time if you do see a normal mistake. This is an editing competition.

Yes your video had a decent editing as compared to some of the videos slightly over your rank. It wasn't astounding but overall the pace was quite right, some nice synch etc. So why so low?

Well, even though I'm really glad to see a video with a good editing basis, I'm also really disappointed when I see all these blending frames (I'm not talking about those, though I do think it could have been cleaner) and that terrible quality for such a recent movie. I'm not being too strict on mere words like "bad quality" and "blending frames", it's just that it's totally ruining your work. I think you really should pay more attention to that point because it really dragged your work down. I can understand what you tried to do with some parts like around 1:20,
But well, that's obviously not the only issue we had with your video. I'm not going to lie but this category is the place where you can easily come to think that all videos look the same. And yet that's not exactly the case with this one, you indeed took a risk and tried to differenciate with this use of fonts. But in our (judges) opinion that wasn't exactly a pretty effect and since it's used throughout the whole video, that has also happened to be a bad point when we had to rank.

I'll develop a bit about it, what exactly was judged as wrong was this "bevel" effect (I'm sorry I'm not sure how to say it in English). It's this effect that makes a shadow in the fond but also makes it look really pixelated and not fitting in the video at all. If you take a look at this screen below, you can see it's definitely not what I'd call a clever effect, the overall result looks gloomy and off the scene behind. In my opinion that is.

What I would have done: keep things a bit simpler, which means removing the "bevel" (weird shadow) effect and making a better use of the composition mode, not just lowering opacity of the solids and fonts but also try out in addition mode to make things a bit brighter and less mat.

On the same idea, the fact that your backgrounds were mostly grey was also a weird choice of colors, it wasn't on the same color path of your video so these full-text parts just looked a bit forced to me. And mat too.

And last point, you have this flower-like brush at 0:18 or 0:51 for example. Well, that looks kind of old-fashioned now, I know this effect was used a lot 5 or more years ago but now it really looks like a preset from another time. I don't think it was very useful, nor well-thought to use this here. That was just a detail though.

So yeah, let's talk about ranking now since it made some sparks. Indeed, the rank was low, but that doesn't mean you're a bad editor, nor does it mean this video was just bad. I tried to detail how I could what made you rank lower than other videos with overall same level of editing (the risks with the fonts that failed) and I do think that the top 20 was more or less of this level, some times with different flaws, yes but we had to make a choice. But I also agree that some videos over you had serious lack of basis, in the end you might have earned about 6 places, but no more. Well, the explanation for these 6 places is very likely to be that the bad encode did hinder our view of the video.

I understand you're disappointed, especially if, as I could see in some comments, you expected something like a top 15 or even top 10. I still think it would have been impossible, considering the videos but we can still have an intelligent discussion about it anyways. However, I also want to remind not only you but actually everyone that it's not because your rank is low that the video is too or that judges are incompetent, lazy or even that they prefered the videos above. There were just other videos and they happened to look better/to have less downwards features.

I hope it helps to understand. I think competition is mostly for fun but we are not joking
